Firefighters are no longer at the site of a poultry plant where a blaze broke out in the early hours of the morning.

Six fire engines were sent to Gressingham Foods at Redgrave, on the Suffolk-Norfolk border, at about 04:30 BST and found a building "well alight".

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said it no longer had any engines at the scene, but firefighters would conduct periodic checks in case the blaze restarted.

An investigation into the cause of the fire, which was spotted at the Hinderclay Road site by a security guard, was under way.

The guard saw smoke in the food packaging area and raised the alarm, the fire service said.

"It was established that the building was well alight and a total number of six fire engines were required," said a spokesperson, adding that no-one was hurt.
