A garage has been destroyed in a fire that spread to three cars, a summer house, a shed and a fence.

Firefighters from five stations tackled the blaze at Hunters Chase, Brentwood, Essex, at about 15:15 BST on Monday.

Station manager Rick Williams said he believed it began because the resident, who received minor burns in the incident, was making wax candles in the garage.

The building "contained a number of flammable items and cylinders which caused the fire to spread quickly", he added.
