Man jailed for 15 years for killing former friend
A man has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for killing his former friend.
Adam Mackintosh, 28, from Thornaby, who had been found guilty of manslaughter earlier this week, was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court.
Mackintosh stabbed Lloyd Donkin, 23 at Wrensfield Road in Stockton, County Durham, in June. He died in hospital a short time later.
Following the sentencing, Mr Donkin's family said: "All the memories we wanted to make with him have been snatched away from us."
Mr Donkin's mother and family released a statement which read: "Finding out my son had died and in such a terrible way is indescribable.
"I can't look at a knife without wondering what pain my baby went through."
Senior investigating officer Matt Hollingsworth, from Cleveland Police, said the dispute started after a fight between the pair on Valentine's Day.
"Mackintosh and Lloyd had known each other for a number of years and were at one time good friends, often spending time in each other's company," he said.
Mr Hollingsworth said Mr Donkin tried to disarm his killer, but was stabbed once on the left side of his chest.
