Mountain rescuers came to the aid of a walker who slipped and suffered an injured ankle in the Peak District.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team said it was alerted by the walker's group to the emergency, which happened just below the Great Ridge above Castleton on Sunday morning.

Team members provided treatment and splinted the ankle before carrying the walker down the hill to be taken to hospital.

A spokesperson said the "very slippy" conditions had made the rescue "quite challenging" and they wished the recovering walker well.
