A man has appeared in court accused of stabbing to death a 77-year-old in front of shoppers at a south London market.

Hilkiah McLeggan from Southwark, south London, died at the scene after being attacked on East Street, Walworth, on Sunday morning.

Two other men were taken to hospital with serious injuries, one remains in a critical condition.

Appearing at Croydon Magistrates' Court, Musse Ali, 66, of no fixed address, was charged with one count of murder and with two counts of attempted murder.
