A man has been charged with drink driving after a car was stuck in a pedestrian walkway, leaving it closed for more than eight hours.

Thames Valley Police said it was called to Botley Road, Oxford, just before 3:30 BST on Sunday to "reports of a man who had driven down a footpath in his vehicle".

Aaron Brickley, aged 24, of Ticknell Piece Road, Charlbury has been charged with one count of driving a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above prescribed limit.

He has been bailed, and will appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on 30 July.

The Botley Road has been closed at the railway bridge near Frideswide Square since April 2023 as part of works being undertaken by Network Rail to expand Oxford train station.
