Country park play area reopens after revamp

A revamped play park has opened at a Nottinghamshire country park.

New equipment including accessible features was unveiled at Rushcliffe Country Park on Monday.

The play area includes a new tower featuring a new wooden trail which offers panoramic views of the Ruddington park.

There is also a new pendulum pod swing and a wheelchair see-saw, while much of the existing play area has been refurbished and upgraded.

The project is part of a £175,000 investment in the park and in Greythorn Drive Park in West Bridgford by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Mayor of Rushcliffe Andy Brown said: “Rushcliffe Country Park is the jewel in the crown of Rushcliffe, along with the new cafe, toilets, skate park and refurbished paths, the park is a great place for everyone of all ages to visit.”

Children from St Peter’s Junior School were invited to test out the new look park.

Headteacher Michael Bradley said: “As a regular visitor with my two young children, I was keen to see the improvements that had been made and was extremely impressed.

“Our Year 3 pupils had a fantastic time exploring and playing on the new equipment, and had a great afternoon.”
