Plans for 21 affordable homes proposed for village

Plans to build a small neighbourhood of new homes on the edge of a village have been submitted to a council.

Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association has applied to build 21 affordable homes east of Braunston.

The land is currently open fields generally grazed by sheep, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

According to planning documents, it would help "those in housing need who wish to live in the community where they currently live have grown up, work or have close family ties".

Plans submitted to West Northamptonshire Council show four one-bed maisonettes, five two-bed bungalows, six two-bed homes, four three-bed homes and two four-bed homes.

Maple Close, where the houses are proposed, already has 32 affordable homes also developed by the same association.

All properties have on-site parking provision and the houses will also have their own private gardens.

Areas of public open space are also part of the plans.

Consultation on the proposals will end in mid-October and a target date for the authority to make a decision has been set for 13 December.
