Head of Jersey customs and immigration to retire
Jersey's head of customs and immigration is retiring after 38 years.
Mark Cockerham joined Jersey Customs and Immigration Service (JCIS) as an officer in April 1986 and worked across borders, intelligence, investigation, goods control and immigration.
He was promoted through the ranks to the head of service, which he held for the last six years.
Rhiannon Small has been appointed as his successor with effect from 1 February.
Mr Cockerham said: "It's been an absolute privilege to lead such a hard-working, able workforce who have such an important role.
"The remit of the service is very wide and has impacts way beyond the border, in terms of revenue collection, customer service and generally making the island a safer place.
"Certainly, I'm looking forward to having more time to focus on family but I will miss working with such a great bunch of people."
