A man has been jailed for seven years for drugging a 15-year-old girl and sexually abusing her.

Mohammed Mutasir was sentenced on Friday after being found guilty in November of four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and two counts of supplying Class A drugs to his victim at Worcester Crown Court.

Mutasir, 48, of Aldgate Grove, Birmingham, carried out his offences in April 2022 after grooming his victim on social media.

West Midlands Police described his actions as "abhorrent".

The force said that following numerous messages between Mutasir and the teenager, they arranged to meet and Mutasir picked her up in his car.

He gave her cocaine before driving her to a car park in Birmingham where he sexually abused her.

This happened on several more occasions.

Det Con Julia Proctor said that Mutasir "exploited his victim, building her trust by grooming her on social media before arranging to meet her and drugging her for his own sexual gain.

"The outcome at court does not take away the pain the victim and the family have suffered, but I hope that now Mutasir is behind bars means they can find some solace from that."
