Man airlifted from Donegal to Belfast after serious assault

Gardaí said a man in his 20s was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital after the assault on Monday morning

A man has been airlifted to hospital in Belfast after a serious assault in County Donegal.

Gardaí (Irish police) said two men were injured during the incident at a house on the Coneyburrow Road, Lifford, at about 10:00 local time on Monday.

One of the men, in his 20s, was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, and a second man, aged in his 60s, was brought to Letterkenny University Hospital by ambulance for less serious injuries.

The scene is undergoing a technical examination.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or those with footage of the incident to contact them.
