Jersey Met has issued a yellow snow warning for Guernsey

A yellow warning for snow has been issued for Guernsey.

Jersey Met said there could be some snow flurries across the island on Thursday morning.

"An active frontal system will bring a period of rain and sleet on Thursday morning which may turn to snow for a time," it said.

"Minor, if any, accumulation of less than 5mm would be temporary, and more likely on higher ground."

The GSPCA said it was on "full alert" following the weather warning and was ready to "deal with a variety of animals affected by the low temperatures".

Manager Steve Bryne said he wanted to ensure pets and other animals were safe and fed.

"Whether you have a rabbit living outside or wild birds visiting the garden, we would ask you to ensure your pets are protected and have all they need.

"Where possible please help our wildlife by putting fresh food and water out for them if it does reach freezing temperatures," he said.
