Covid-19 booster jabs will be available in Jersey from Tuesday until June

Eligible islanders have been urged to get a free Covid-19 jab as part of a spring booster scheme in Jersey.

The Government of Jersey said vaccinations for the virus would be available at GP surgeries from Tuesday until the end of June.

It said anyone aged 75 or over, people aged six months or over who have weakened immune systems, or older people living in a care home could get a jab.

Islanders in any of the eligible categories should contact their local GP surgery to make an appointment for a booster jab, officials said.

Fading defences

Primary care representative Bryony Perchard said most people with the virus only suffer a mild illness but she warned people considered high risk could still end up in hospital.

"Vaccination not only reduces the chances of the getting ill but also makes any infection less unpleasant," she said.

"I urge all those who are eligible to not let their defences against Covid-19 fade by booking an appointment with their doctor."

The government said more information about the booster programme could be found on its website.
