Devon and Cornwall Police said the incident was reported just before midnight on Friday near the Twelvewoods roundabout on the eastbound A38 in Dobwalls.

The force said the crash involved a number of vehicles and the road was closed for several hours on Saturday before it was reopened at about 11:10 GMT.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident has been asked to contact police.

National Highways South West posted on X just after 03:25 GMT, saying the A38 had been closed eastbound between the junctions of the A390 near Dobwalls and B3254 near Liskeard.

A spokesperson said a diversion route had been set up, with motorists advised to allow extra time for their journey, before the road was reopened.
