Council aims to clean up roads and pavements
Work is taking place over the next few months to improve the appearance of Surrey's roads and pavements, the county council has said.
A council spokesperson said extra highways teams would be mobilised to ensure roads were "in a better place ahead of spring".
Activities will include cutting back hedges, weed control, cleaning road signage and clearing drains.
Surrey County Council said it recognised this was an important issue for residents.
The authority said this was in addition to the £300m it had already invested in repairing and improving Surrey’s roads and pavements by 2028.
Matt Furniss, cabinet member for highways, transport and economic growth said: “We recognise that the condition and appearance of our roads and pavements is a highly important issue for our residents.
"We have listened and will be dedicating teams to enhance areas of our communities that need some extra attention."
Since the beginning of November 2024, the council said it had already worked on 100 roads.
The first improvements have been in Leatherhead, Guildford and Ashford.
