A man has been arrested following a report of a woman being sexually assaulted in a park, police have said.

A third-party report was made about the alleged assault in a remote area of Tilgate Park in Crawley, said Sussex Police.

The attack is alleged to have happened in a wooded area in the southern part of the park, near the M23, at about 16:10 BST on Thursday.

Police said a 42-year-old man, from Crawley, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and bailed with strict conditions until 11 July, as police enquiries continued.

No victim has been identified, and officers are keen to ensure the welfare of anyone who may have been assaulted, said Sussex Police.

Anyone with information was urged to contact the force.
