Motorist killed in two-vehicle collision
A man has been killed in a two-vehicle collision in North Tyneside.
Northumbria Police said it involved a grey Peugeot 407 travelling south on Norham Road in North Shields, which collided with a white Honda Civic travelling north.
The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, which happened at about 11.25 GMT, has been urged to contact the force.
The road was closed in both directions between the roundabout after the New York bypass and Middle Engine Lane.
A force spokesman said: "We have launched a full investigation to determine exactly what happened.
"This is a busy area with lots of passing traffic and passers-by, so we'd urge anyone who saw what happened to get in touch as soon as possible."
