Police have made further arrests after a pedestrian was left critically injured in a collision in Rotherham.

The 48-year-old victim has remained in hospital since the crash in Fitzwilliam Road, Rotherham, at 16:40 BST on 24 May, with his injuries "believed to have been caused by a vehicle".

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, South Yorkshire Police said, with a 30-year-old man held on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in relation to a connected incident.

In May, Marcin Chroback, 22, of Bawtry Road, Rotherham, was charged with attempted murder and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court later this month.

Earlier in the investigation, a 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was released on bail.

A 25-year-old woman previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released with no further action, police said.

Two men, aged 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and fraud, with the pair bailed pending further inquiries.
