Two new play areas for children up to the age of 12 have opened in Saltash, Cornwall.

The new equipment was installed in play areas on Honeysuckle Way and Grassmere Way.

It was made possible after a £75,000 grant from Cornwall Council's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund and £20,000 in funding from Saltash Town Council.

Mayor of Saltash Councillor Julia Peggs said the area was popular with families.

"We are delighted with the new play areas, which have really improved play provision on Pillmere, an area of Saltash that is home to many families, some of whom have been travelling substantial distances to use alternative facilities," she said.

"We really appreciate the support of Cornwall Council's CIL funding to allow this project to proceed."
