A man has admitted stabbing another man in an attack in a Suffolk town.

Police officers were called to Leveret Gardens in Stowmarket on 2 February following reports a man in his 20s had been injured.

Simon Jones, 26, of Freehold Road in Needham Market, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife, during an appearance at Ipswich Crown Court.

Jones, who appeared via video link wearing a grey jumper, was remanded in custody. He is due to be sentenced on 22 May.

His defence barrister said in court his client had also suffered a stab wound during the incident.

The defendant's mother, Nicola Jones, 60, of the same address, previously denied a charge against her and prosecutors said they would no longer be pursuing it.

A judge will enter a not guilty verdict for her at a later date. Bail conditions that had been placed on her were also lifted.
