The refurbishment of part of the Isle of Man TT course will be redone after the original work did not meet "resurfacing standards", the infrastructure department has said.

A 70m (230ft) stretch of the A1 Peel Road, at Braddan Church Roundabout, was resurfaced last week.

But the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said inspections of the work had found the transition between the newly resurfaced area and the existing road was "uneven".

The DOI said the works would take place later in the week, with temporary traffic lights in operation after the morning commuter period.

The centre-line marking will also be reinstated during the works.

Apologising to motorists for the disruption, the department said the works were to "improve road safety and quality".
