Drone show marks first anniversary of city status

A special drone display will be held for the public to celebrate the first anniversary of the Manx capital officially becoming a city.
Queen Camilla conferred city status on Douglas in a ceremony on 20 March last year, which the council has named City Day.
The city's local authority said the display over Douglas Bay, which will be choreographed to music, would be the first ever official drone show on the island.
The event begins at 19:30 GMT and spectators have been asked to gather on Loch Promenade Walkway to watch the 15 minute spectacle.
Douglas was one of eight areas named as cities for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Star Symphony Drone Shows will run the event of behalf of the local authority with support from the ELS Group, which has provided the sound equipment, and funding from the Department of Enterprise to meet "ancillary costs".
Douglas Council said the "best" place to see the show would be from between the area of the Bee Gees statue and Howard Street.
But a "no pedestrian zone" will be in place around the Bottleneck Car Park near the Sea Terminal, and a ban on the flying of any other drones will be in place in the area between 19:20 and 20:00.
