Bonfire Night dispersal orders for two city areas
Police have put dispersal orders in place for two areas of Nottingham ahead of Bonfire Night.
The orders cover St Ann’s Well Road and parts of Clifton from 16:00 GMT on Tuesday for a period of 24 hours and may be "re-imposed at any time".
Officers said the St Ann’s order comes after "several reports" of anti-social behaviour on Friday, where groups of youths were reportedly throwing fireworks.
The Clifton order, which covers Southchurch Drive, Green Lane, Noble Road, Angel Green and the tram route through Clifton, is a response to "issues last Bonfire Night", Nottinghamshire Police said in a statement
'Troublemakers'
Inspector Steve Dalby, city south neighbourhood policing inspector, said the orders aim to prevent repeats of the "unacceptable" incidents from last year, which included fireworks being thrown at cars and members of the public.
“These dispersal orders will allow us to target groups who are perceived as causing or likely to cause nuisance," added Mr Dalby.
“We have seen how successful these orders can be in preventing anti-social behaviour when they have been put in place to prevent car cruising in areas of the city south.
“I hope members of the community welcome our targeted and robust response to the small number of troublemakers.”
