Lodge owners in dispute to keep electricity supply

Lodge owners have been told their electricity supply will not be cut off by the owner over a long-running dispute.

Twenty-five residents of Wyre Country Park in Lancashire have been refusing to pay the bill because they said owner David Welch had not provided them with an accurate breakdown.

They were given an injunction against him and at a Blackpool County Court hearing earlier they were told that an undertaking had been given to keep the power on.

A BBC Panorama investigation previously heard stories of mis-selling of homes that the park owner denied.

Mike Chesworth, who owns one of the lodges in Poulton-Le-Fylde, said: "The good thing for people on the park is that we've always got power and now it's up to Mr Welch to move forward to try and resolve the issue correctly and properly and legally."

The lodge owners said earlier that Total Energies supplied the site owner and he billed them individually, but they claimed Mr Welch had been refusing to give them an accurate breakdown.

They said the sums calculated were inaccurate as a result.

Buyers at the park told BBC Panorama earlier this year that they were falsely promised they could live full-time on the site.

An undercover reporter secretly filmed one salesperson claiming year-round living was permitted.

Mr Welch told the BBC contracts clearly stated it was a holiday park.
