A lorry driver has been taken to hospital after two lorries crashed on a motorway.

Cambridgeshire Police, multiple fire crews and paramedics were called to the northbound carriageway of the A1(M) at Peterborough.

National Highways posted to say the carriageway was closed after the crash between junction 17 and the A47 near Wansford.

The fire service helped release a casualty from one of the lorries, while police said one of the drivers was taken to hospital, but there were not thought to be any life-threatening injuries.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said it had taken a male patient to Peterborough City Hospital for further care.

One lane remained closed so the lorries could be recovered.
