A 12-year-old schoolboy has said acting alongside Tom Hanks in a new Hollywood film was "mind-blowing".

Albie Salter, from Maidenhead, has been filming Here, which is due out in the UK in January, at Pinewood Studios in Slough.

The student said his teacher at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art recommended he take acting seriously and start auditions.

Albie said the Forrest Gump and Toy Story star was "a lovely person" and described playing his younger brother in the film as a "crazy" experience.

"I've always loved acting and music, I feel like it connected with me and I connected with it," he said.

"I love studying, I love doing school and after filming I get on with all my homework."

Based on a book and directed by Robert Zemeckis, Here also stars Robin Wright and Paul Bettany.

Albie said he remembered his first day walking onto the set and seeing the two-time Oscar winner, which made him think: "It's a crazy world."

"Tom Hanks was really nice and he introduced me to Robin Wright - he's just such a lovely person," he said.

"He didn't give me any tips, but I did watch his acting,

"It was mind-blowing how good he was, and I learnt stuff that I'm definitely going to be taking away from that film."

Albie said the film is set in one room, through time, and it tells the stories of the people who have lived in it.

"I play a boy called Jimmy, which is Tom Hanks younger brother," he added.
