Motorists are being warned of delays on the roads while a flood-damaged retaining wall is repaired.

The wall in Gaitsgill Village, near Dalston in Cumbria, supports the U1142 highway which runs alongside a waterway known as Pen Beck.

It was damaged earlier this year and Cumberland Council has said another sizeable flood could pose a "significant risk" to the road.

The second week of repairs has now begun and traffic management measures have been put in place until Friday.

"Throughout the repairs, access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained, and residents will continue to have access to their properties," the council said.

The timescale for the work was decided after a discussion about the work at a community drop-in session in November.

The road was initially closed during the first phase of the repairs which took place last week.
