A man has reportedly attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl on her way to school in Hull.

Humberside Police said the incident took place on Courtpark Road in Orchard Park at 09:50 GMT on Friday when the girl was approached by a man who asked her name and where she lived.

He reportedly grabbed her arm and started to pull her towards his car after she ignored him, but she was able to get away without being injured.

Det Insp Mark Skelton said there would be an increased police presence in the area while the investigation continued.

"I understand incidents of this nature will frighten parents and the local community, and I would like to offer my reassurance that we always treat this type of report incredibly seriously," he said.

"Since we received the report, we have been conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area as well as reviewing CCTV."

The man was described as black, in his 30s and 5ft 8in. He is thought to have been wearing an orange Nike T-shirt, black shorts and black trainers. He had a diamond stud in his ear and was wearing a gold necklace.

Anyone with any information, dashcam footage or CCTV footage is asked to contact police.
