Jersey parish wins two Britain in Bloom awards

St Helier has won two awards award at a prestigious national flower competition.

The parish won the coastal category at the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Britain in Bloom competition, as well as a gold award.

Judges from the society visited St Helier in August, touring the parish including the Jersey Hospice Gardens, GROW Project, the Surville allotments and the town centre.

Simon Crowcroft, St Helier's constable, said the awards recognised "the hard work of all the teams and community groups who keep St Helier blooming, as well as the parish's environmental contributions to the island".

"I hope you will take the time to explore our portfolio and see all the wonderful things happening in the parish that have earned us this award," he said.

The parish spent months preparing for the competition, which celebrates local areas that make positive changes to their local environment through "horticulture, environmental and community action".

The work included creating a 52-page portfolio showcasing the parish.
