Three children have been rescued after becoming stranded on a south Devon beach on Wednesday.

HM Coastguard was called to Mothecombe Beach, near Plymouth at 17:45 BST, along with the RNLI and ambulance crews.

A spokesperson for the coastguard said the operation involved rescue teams from Bigbury and Yealm, lifeboats from Salcombe and Plymouth, a coastguard helicopter and the ambulance service.

They said all three children had been "recovered ashore and have been accounted for".
