Plans for 12,640 new homes in fast-growing borough
The second-fastest growing borough in England has approved plans for thousands of new homes.
Dartford's housebuilding plans to 2037 includes 12,640 homes.
The plan envisages that the majority of the housing requirement will be delivered in Ebbsfleet.
Borough council leader Jeremy Kite (Con) said the plan is “the mother and father" of all the district's planning policies.
Labour group leader Jonathon Hawkes said: “The plan talks about Dartford’s status as the second-fastest growing borough in England, and that’s a testament to our community’s vibrancy and potential
“There are already real issues at Ebbsfleet in matching housing growth with the infrastructure needed to support it."
Plans for a “garden city” at Ebbsfleet was approved in 2014 by the government to deliver up to 15,000 homes.
The 4,000th home at the site was completed in February this year. Under the council’s local plan, there will be only 8,200 there by 2037.
