Sixth form with no students to close permanently

A sixth form with no pupils is to close following a public consultation.

Boroughbridge High School in North Yorkshire had temporarily suspended entries to its sixth form in 2022 due to falling numbers of post-16 students.

Announcing the decision, North Yorkshire Council said: "A decline in numbers has made it more difficult to maintain viable class sizes in terms of quality of experience, subject breadth and financial viability."

The school will remain open for 11-16 secondary provision and the decision will not result in any changes to staffing, according to the authority.

It has collaborated with King James's School in Knaresborough to provide access to a wide range of post-16 courses.
