Further disruption at station hit by floods

A railway station that was closed for three days due to flooding has been hit by further disruption.

Limited services at Northampton resumed on Wednesday evening after the River Nene burst its banks and caused severe flooding on Monday.

One service an hour was running, with buses replacing the other trains, but a points failure at the station then caused further issues.

Network Rail said the problem had been resolved but disruption is expected until the end of Friday.

After Storm Bert, Network Rail said it carried out "rigorous checks and repairs on hundreds of pieces of signalling equipment" at Northampton.
