Woman in critical condition after 'wrong-way' crash
A passenger is in a critical condition in hospital after a collision involving a car travelling the wrong way, police say.
Hertfordshire Police said the crash happened at about 22:50 BST on Friday, on the northwest-bound carriageway of the A505 Baldock bypass, close to the Deadman's Hill junction.
The force said a black Ford Focus was travelling towards Royston when it collided with a white Mercedes E220 that appeared to have been driven "the wrong way up the same carriageway".
The driver of the Mercedes, a 64-year-old man from Letchworth, suffered minor injuries. His passenger, a 56-year-old woman from Graveley, was critically injured.
The male Focus driver, 20, from Royston, suffered leg injuries and was also taken to hospital, the police said.
Det Sgt Shona Birkby, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "We are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision or anyone who saw the Mercedes prior to it, to please contact us."
She also appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
