Police seize cars involved in illegal street meet

Police officers have seized vehicles involved in an illegal car meet that caused damage to a car park, estimated to have cost thousands of pounds.

About 100 spectators turned up to watch cars driven in an "extremely dangerous manner" at an Asda supermarket in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, on 17 August.

The same group later attended the Magna Park industrial estate where they disrupted businesses, Thames Valley Police said.

The force added it intended to prosecute those involved and destroy the seized vehicles, which were also found in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, London and Essex.

The culprits fled the scene along with the spectators after the police arrived at the supermarket car park.

The drivers were later tracked by officers as part of the force's Operation Chromium.

"This reckless behaviour not only endangered the drivers but also put spectators and the wider public at risk," police said on social media.

"We will use all available resources to prosecute and remove the most dangerous drivers from the road."

The incident followed similar trouble seen when cars skidded around a "ring of fire" at Flitwick Mowers, in Bedfordshire.

Festus Akinbusoye, Bedfordshire's police and crime commissioner, said at the time: "Intelligence is being gathered and actions are being taken."
