New plea to help identity body found on beach

Investigators are still trying to identify a man whose body was found on a beach last year.

A member of the public found the body on Lilstock Beach, between Bridgwater and Watchet in Somerset, on 28 December.

Avon and Somerset Police has now released a computer generated e-fit in an effort to help the man be identified.

The force believes his body had been in the water for up to five days before he was found. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Det Insp George Pettingell said: "We hope that this image might be the key to helping us identify this man and importantly be able to update any family and friends.

"Forensic and DNA enquiries have established the man is likely of either Croatian or Bosnian heritage."

The man is described as being white, of large build and estimated to be aged in his 40s or 50s when he died.

"He had a shaved head and was wearing a black jacket, black jumper, red trousers and black Nike trainers," Det Insp Pettingell added.

Police are urging anyone with information to get in touch.
