Prisoners in Guernsey have helped to build 30 picnic benches and tables for the island of Herm.
The inmates have also made benches for the Princess Elizabeth Hospital and play apparatus for a local pre-school.
It is due to The Creative Learning In Prison team (CLIP) at Guernsey Prison, a charity that encourages those inside the prison to work and gain qualifications.
Dave Le Feuvre, head of education, training and regimes, said: "It's about encouraging people to work and to develop that work ethic."
'Encouraging qualifications'
He added: "We try to replicate as much as we can what goes on in the community within the prison.
"It is a working prison and everyone is encouraged to work on a daily basis.
"Secondly, it's about encouraging people to get qualifications. We're a registered city and guild centre, so we try and provide people with qualifications through the workshops here."
Mr Le Feuvre said creating items for others helped prisoners feel "as though they are part of the community".
