Tributes have been paid to a "kind hearted and selfless" mother and grandmother who was found stabbed in a flat in Lancashire.

Zoe Crowther, 51, was discovered by police in the ground floor home on Walmsley Close in the village of Church, near Accrington, at about 12:25 GMT on Tuesday.

Janet Connor, 52, also of Walmsley Close, has been charged with her murder.

A statement from Ms Crowther's family described her as a "kind-hearted, loving and selfless woman" who was "a loved mum, grandma, sister and auntie".

They continued: "She will forever be missed. As a family we are heartbroken at this time."

Det Ch Insp Andy Fallows, of Lancashire Police said: "First and foremost, my thoughts remain with Zoe's loved ones at what is an incredibly distressing time for them.

"Although we have charged a woman with murder, our investigation is still very much ongoing. We are continuing to appeal for any information or footage that could assist our enquiries."

Ms Connor was remanded in custody at Blackburn Magistrates Court to appear at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday.
