A man is being sought by police after he tried to push over a mobility scooter as it was being ridden.

The user of the electric vehicle was also verbally abused, kicked and shoved as they travelled through Harrogate, North Yorkshire Police said.

The scooter was being driven along Knaresborough Road between Drake's fish and chip shop and the pedestrian crossing near Jesmond Road when the incident happened on 31 October.

The man became aggressive and followed the victim to the crossing before trying to topple the mobility aid with the rider sitting on it. A female suspect was also involved in the verbal abuse.

Police said they would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have captured it on dashcam footage.

They would also like to hear from a person who stopped and helped the victim, the force said.

Anyone with information about the incident - which took place at around 16:00 BST on Halloween - should contact police on 101.
