Man in court charged with murdering mother in Cavan
A 31-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his mother in County Cavan.
Annie Heyneman, a mother-of-five, was found dead at her family home on Derrycasan Lane in Kilnavart near Ballyconnell on Saturday night.
Her son Danny Heyneman appeared at Monaghan District Court on Wednesday morning.
He has also been charged in relation to the attempted murder of his father Henk Heyneman, who was admitted to Cavan General on Saturday, where his condition is said to be serious but stable.
Remanded in custody
Danny Heyneman appeared in front of Judge Raymond Finnegan dressed in a black hoodie and blue jeans and made no reply to the charges when they were put to him.
Det Sgt Sharon Walsh from Cavan Garda Station told the court she arrested Mr Heyneman at 21:45 on Tuesday in relation to the murder and then charged him with murder less than an hour later.
He replied "no comment" on both charges when cautioned at the station.
Judge Finnegan remanded him to Cloverhill prison in Dublin.
He is due to appear at Cavan District Court again on Friday.
