Two people were taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following a crash involving a motorbike and a car in Chesterfield.

Derbyshire Police said officers were called to Newbold Road close to the roundabout where the road meets Hawksley Avenue and Newland Gardens, at about 20:00 BST on Tuesday.

The road was shut for several hours while emergency services dealt with the collision, which involved a Honda motorbike and a Mini Clubman.

The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 50s, and the pillion passenger, a woman in her 20s, were taken to hospital. The three occupants of the Mini were not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who has CCTV that covers the location of the incident and has not yet spoken to officers, is being urged to contact Derbyshire Police.
