Family pay tribute to man killed in lorry crash

The family of a man who died in a crash in Staffordshire have paid tribute.

Balhar Singh Gill, 62, from Leicester, was stationary in a white Citroen Berlingo van on the eastbound carriageway of the A50 near to Blythe Bridge when a Mercedes lorry hit his vehicle on 10 December, police said.

He suffered a serious head injury in the crash, which happened just after 19:00 GMT, and was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he died two days later.

"He was a steady presence in our lives, and while he left us too soon, his memory will remain with us," his family said in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of a father, husband, brother and uncle," they said, adding that he would be missed.

The driver of the lorry was not injured and continued to help with the investigation, police said.

Officers appealed for anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact them.
