The inquest into the death of an eight-year-old boy who died after he fell from the window of his home in Nottingham has been opened.

Hamid Balal-Ali was rushed to hospital after the fall in Costock Avenue, Sherwood, on 18 September last year but died soon after.

Opening an inquest into his death, assistant coroner Gordon Clow gave a provisional cause of death as head injuries.

He passed on his condolences to the family and adjourned the inquest to a date yet to be fixed.

Nottinghamshire Police said at the time Hamid's death was not being treated as suspicious.
