Charity podcast fundraises for theatre workers
A Sussex-based podcast is raising funds to provide financial and emotional support for theatre workers.
Actor and former Blue Peter presenter Mark Curry is fundraising for the charity Acting for Others through Backstage Curry, a weekly in-depth chat with an actor or personality.
The charity supports all theatre workers in times of need, whether they are backstage, on stage, front of house, or creatives, a spokesperson said.
Dame Judi Dench, who is its president, said: "If you want to hear more about the charity and support the work that is done, please listen to the fabulous podcast series."
Backstage Curry has featured Bonnie Langford, Louise Jameson, Debbie McGee, Yvette Fielding and Sonia in recent weeks.
Acting for Others operates through a through a network of 14 member charities.
Dame Judi, who is based in Surrey, said she had been involved with it for many years and described it as "such a worthwhile charity".
A charity spokesperson said: "It can provide counselling, benefit advice, support nursing home fees and help with retraining."
Mr Curry, who is based in Eastbourne, said: "It's important for me to give back to others in my industry, both on-stage and off stage.
"My podcast is a way to offer listeners a chance to donate to such a worthy cause after they have listened to the conversations."
