Man arrested after reported carjacking bungle

A man has been arrested after a car was hijacked and driven into a barrier and then failed attempts were made to stop other passing vehicles, police say.
The incident happened near Woodsford level crossing at Crossways shortly after 19:30 GMT on Valentine's Day, Dorset Police said.
A police spokesperson said a motorist had pulled over to help a stopped car, but two men took over his vehicle, drove off, and then hit the crossing barrier a short distance away.
A 33-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, assault, making threats to kill and driving offences.
The two men initially appeared to have broken down or crashed their silver Ford Focus near the crossing in Lewell Road, police said.
The driver of a white Mercedes stopped to help them but was removed from his vehicle, detectives said.
However, the suspects abandoned his car after crashing it, before attempting to stop other vehicles and threatening the occupants, officers said.
The pair then left the scene on foot, police added.
The 33-year-old man remains in police custody.
