Clubbers share memories of Peterborough nightlife in the 1990s, while a World War Two veteran received a royal honour ahead of turning 100.

A demolition notice posted outside a former late-night venue has led to questions about the future of nightlife in the city.

The venue on New Road used to be called The Bar and was once a highlight of Peterborough's nightlife scene.

People have been sharing their memories of the so-called glory days of the 1980s and 1990s, when thousands of people turned out to the city on a typical weekend night.

Peterborough World War Two veteran Geoffrey Roberts, who turns 100 on Saturday, was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) on Thursday.

Mr Roberts said he was "lucky" to survive the war, describing the "real heroes" as the soldiers who lost their lives.

He was appointed for his charity work and services to the commemoration of the September 1944 Battle of Arnhem in which more than 8,000 British soldiers were killed, missing or taken prisoner.

Works to revamp the area around Peterborough's railway station could get under way as early as August.

Heidi Alexander, the transport secretary, visited the site on Wednesday.

She said £48m of government funding to go towards the project would kickstart regeneration in the city.

Crackdown for car meet hotspot

Pleasure Fair Meadow car park is a council-operated long stay public car park.

More than 150 people said they supported a public space protection order for an area known for authorised car meets and cruising events.

It was proposed by Peterborough City Council to tackle anti-social behaviour at the Pleasure Fair Meadow car park.

Those against the order said there were "limited locations for car enthusiasts to meet in Peterborough".

New signing for the Posh

Peterborough United announced the signing of midfielder Brandon Khela from Birmingham City on Wednesday.

The deal for the 20-year-old is due to run until 2029.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson said Khela was an "excellent signing".
