Funds raised for 34 iPads for cancer patients
A former cancer patient has raised £4,000 to buy 34 iPads for people to use while having chemotherapy.
Carol Beddow from Bilston has been fundraising for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity (RWT) since she was treated for lung cancer following diagnosis in 2020.
"Having chemotherapy can be so long, lonely and boring," said Ms Beddow, who hoped the devices would take people's minds off their treatment.
Her aim was to make sure all 52 beds in the Snowdrop and Durnall Units at The Deanesly Centre, New Cross Hospital, have devices.
The £4,000 was raised through a family charity day in Bilston.
Ms Beddow, who was helped by her grandchildren, said "everyone has been so generous."
Lindsey Goodall from RWT Charity, said the "fantastic amount" of money raised by Ms Beddow and her grandsons was amazing.
"This will really benefit our cancer patients while they are receiving their treatment," the community and events fundraiser said.
