Twelve people have been taken to hospital including at least five children after a crash involving a bus and a tractor in Kent.

The air ambulance, along with paramedics, police and firefighters, was called to the scene on the A227 near Meopham at about 15:25 BST, around the end of the school day.

Kent Police said several passengers on the bus, including at least five children, were injured.

South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) said on X that paramedics had treated 12 patients and taken them to nearby hospitals. One person was airlifted to hospital in London.

Patient airlifted

Secamb said crews were sent to a serious collision between a bus and tractor near Meopham.

A Secamb spokesperson said: "We treated and conveyed 12 patients to local hospitals. One patient was airlifted to Kings College Hospital and four other casualties were discharged at the scene."

The collision happened on the A227 South Street near Culverstone Green, near the junction with Chapman's Hill, police said.

Officers urged witnesses and anyone with dashcam or phone footage to come forward.
