'Fantastic' free events to boost digital skills
Getty ImagesEvents to enable people to hone their digital skills across Shropshire have been announced.
A total of 26 learning hubs enabling people to get online for free, will be operating for five days from next Monday.
Entitled Get Online Week, Shropshire Council has teamed up with the Good Things Foundation charity, for the projects.
Venues in the county will include Shrewsbury's Darwin Shopping Centre, Mayfair Community Centre in Church Stretton and Bishops Castle Library.
The hubs will offer one-to-one digital support, technical help with operating devices, information about scams, security and how to gain digital skills for employment, the council said.
Robert Macey, cabinet member for culture, leisure and digital, said it was pleasing to support the "fantastic initiative".
"We hope residents can come along and find out the services we offer to help develop digital skills, get connected and stay safe online," he said.
The week will also include a series of audio talks about how digital technology can help visually impaired people in their daily lives.
