Developer Starlight Energy has proposed the 42MW site on land near Burton Pedwardine, close to Sleaford

A new solar farm in Lincolnshire would be capable of powering 23,000 homes, according to plans.

Starlight Energy wants to build it on the edge of two existing solar farms near Burton Pedwardine, Sleaford.

The developer said it had reduced the scale of the scheme, for a 76-hectare (188-acre) site off White Cross Lane, after consulting Burton Pedwardine Parish Council.

North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) will decide whether to approve the plans, which would see 3m-tall panels installed for a period of 40 years.

A substation, fencing, CCTV cameras and access tracks are also included in the application.

The developer said the project would raise £50,000 in business rates each year, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. A community fund would also be set up.

The plans are open for public comments on the NKDC website.
